Welcome to Soap As Fashion—an intellectual style newsletter, with tips for living your best (real) life.
I originally started this newsletter on my soap website as a way to rediscover myself after becoming a mother. I write and reflect on my life, fashion, personal style, health, beauty, motherhood, marriage, culture, my business, & more.
I’ve always been a fashion person, demanding to wear a particular fancy blue ruffled dress everywhere at the age of 2, and refining my sense of style ever since. I studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and got my first proper job working at luxury brand Salvatore Ferragamo.
In another life (à la Sliding Doors), I stayed in New York and became a buyer for Barneys (my original dream, RIP) and a contributing editor and writer for Vogue.
In reality, I moved close to family in Southern California when I became convinced there were no tall guys available in NYC (I’m tall), eventually found my husband, and several years after that we were blessed with our daughter. I founded my clean luxury soap business FORK & MELON during my fertility journey, when I couldn’t find healthy soap that also looked cool.
I currently live with my husband, young daughter, and tiny yorkie in Carlsbad, CA. I love it here, and also part of my heart will always be in New York.
My friends call me Cher.
